Stop Predatory Gambling

New York Times columnist Tom Friedman wrote an excellent column yesterday about what will be required to face the serious economic challenges in front of us:

 “Our parents truly were the Greatest Generation. We, alas, in too many ways, have been what the writer Kurt Andersen called “The Grasshopper Generation,” eating through the prosperity that was bequeathed us like hungry locusts. Now we and our kids together need to be “The Regeneration” — the generation that renews, refreshes, re-energizes and rebuilds America for the 21st century.”

Yet to most Americans, the commercial below represents the daily voice of government: deceptive marketing of a something-for-nothing scheme with “life changing jackpots” at impossible odds of 1 in 195 million.

 Any effort to renew, refresh, re-energize and rebuild America – The Regeneration -needs to start first with the government program of predatory gambling.
