Ohio Supreme Court Strikes Down Slots Proposal

by spgadmin

The Ohio Supreme Court did its part yesterday to help get the state and America back on the right track and reaffirm our founding democratic principles.

In a 6-1 decision, the Court ruled that voters must have the chance to give consent before Governor Ted Strickland authorizes slot machines at horse tracks.  Strickland signed off on the slot machine plan in July to help fill a $3.4 billion budget deficit. The plan called for installing 17,500 machines at seven tracks by May 1, 2010.

The lawsuit and other legal challenges were filed by predatory gambling opposition groups in Ohio. We applaud your efforts.
