State-sponsored predatory gambling defies the Constitution

Yesterday was Constitution Day, a day celebrating the creation of the U.S. Constitution signed on September 17, 1787.

One of the Constitution’s most vital missions, established clearly in its preamble, is “to promote the general welfare.” State-sponsored predatory gambling violates this mission by engaging in a practice of creating addicted, out-of-control and heavily indebted people in the name of funding public services.

State-sponsored predatory gambling symbolizes everything we need to change about the current state of our democracy and our economic future.  It’s up to us to fix it.
