California city rejects casino push

Despite millions of dollars spent by predatory gambling interests on media and public affairs to drive their deceptive message, the citizens of Richmond soundly rejected a bid to bring a casino into their community. Led by a thoughtful mayor who has put the interests of the community first along with a new majority of City Council members who also oppose the casino, Richmond is basing its future on building an economy based on creating real prosperity instead of one based on phony prosperity.

We applaud their hard work and sacrifices to put their community on the right track. And in the years ahead, the rest of America will be following their lead.
