Ohio attempts to exploit its younger generation

by spgadmin

Even though Ohio citizens have voted four times against legalizing casinos in their state, state officials found a legally questionable way to bring them into Ohio through executive order. Now state officials want the legal age to use slot machines to be 18 years old. Read the story here.

The owners and promoters of predatory gambling want the age to be 18 because their business model is based on 90% of the gambling profits coming from 10% of the people who use the product. They rely on out-of-control and heavily indebted citizens to make nearly all of their money.

What demographic is more likely to become out-of-control and recklessly handle their money than 18-21 year olds?

Instead of incentivizing young people to save money so they can accumulate the capital they need to pay for college and achieve financial security, government is going to trap many of them in heavy debt just as they begin adulthood.

This group of young people targeted by government will claim the title of “the greatest generation” if they can help our nation return to its core democratic principles of equal citizenship and opportunity for all.
