Even Casino Operators Admit There’s No Such Thing As a “Destination Casino Resort”

by Les

At a Philadelphia City Council hearing on February 7, 2013, Penn National Gaming’s Steven Snyder, Sr. Vice President for Corporate Development, admitted that no one from outside of Philadelphia would be coming to a city casino.

Many journalists and elected officials repeatedly use the phrase “destination casino resort” to describe proposals to build casinos across the U.S. Casino operators and their public affairs teams do their very best to help perpetuate this phony “destination casino resort” narrative because it masks the reality that nearly all of the casino’s profits are coming from local citizens five to six times a week.
