Stop Predatory Gambling

Life, liberty and the pursuit of debt

“States end up losers in gambling pullback” reads the headline in today’s Wall Street Journal. The story highlights how many states who have embraced predatory gambling as a revenue source are facing even worse budget problems.

Because states are so reliant on predatory gambling revenues they must, despite the high level of debt  already facing many Americans,  actively encourage people to get into deeper debt by promoting even more intense and accessible predatory gambling products. Government is stimulating demand, not simply accommodating it.

We will continue to raise the question until it is answered: In these economic times why is government relentlessly encouraging people to lose their money on virtually worthless gambling products rather than urging them to save, enabling them to accumulate the capital they need to live the American Dream?
