There is one winner in the predatory gambling trade

by spgadmin

Atlantic City casinos are now asking for New Jersey state government to create a $20 million annual marketing fund to be used on their behalf.

They want taxpayer dollars to help aggressively market their casinos so that citizens can lose more money, putting themselves into even higher levels of personal debt.

The predatory gambling trade business model is based on developing a continuing flow of out-of-control, heavily indebted citizens – 90% of the gambling profits comes from 10% of the people who use the product. They need to stimulate demand to survive and intense marketing is the only way to do it.

The latest demands from the Atlantic City casinos are simply another confirmation that predatory gambling is a something for nothing scheme. Taxpayers were sold the myth that gambling revenues would fill budget gaps, yet in state after state the irrefutable evidence is the only winners in the predatory gambling trade are the people who own and sell the product.
