We have all read the recent news stories about children being left in cars while their parents or caregivers gamble for hours in casinos. Now, the predatory gambling industry is working on technology that could put children at risk in a different way.
Last week, the Las Vegas Sun reported that allowing “mobile gaming” on electronic devices in casino hotels is close to being approved by state regulators. Visitors to Vegas already have the opportunity to gamble at slots at the airport and, of course, in a variety of ways at the city’s many casinos. Even with these current forms of gambling, casinos have not always been successful in preventing minors from participating.
Though the industry claims the mobile devices won’t be permitted in areas like arcades and swimming pools, there is no fool proof way to prevent children from accessing and gambling on these devices while in other areas of the casinos – including their own hotel rooms.
This new initiative may increase the predatory gambling industry’s profits, but it may also help create a new generation of gamblers at a very early age.
It's room service, casino-style

Maybe it’s time to make all Las Vegas hotels adults-only.
