They also target the Hispanic community
It’s good to see Penn Law School look at this issue but it is important to note that the same film can be made about the Hispanic community in this country. I know the film focuses primarily on casinos but the intense marketing by state lotteries to Hispanics also deserves major public attention. They sell scratch tickets especially geared to those who speak Spanish!
It's racial profiling casino-style
You’re right but don’t forget to include the enormous amount of marketing targeting Asian-Americans. It’s one of the most little known and disturbing facts about the predatory gambling business. If any other business used such predatory practices they would be the focus of a major suit by state attorneys general everywhere.
Pokies [or slots as you call them in the USA]
Here in Australia we face massive problems caused the proliferation of pokies. Australia has over 20% of the world’s slots. Here as I am writing this comment in my office Sydney’s CBD I am only less than 200 yards from a dozen bars and 6 clubs where pokies take up a large chunk o f the floor space. Personally I think we should blow up the pokies.
