A video every legislator in America needs to watch

by spgadmin

Dr. Kevin Harrigan, a gambling researcher at the University of Waterloo in Canada, has been an international leader in exposing the highly-deceptive and predatory nature of electronic gambling machines. He has produced several brief, must-watch videos to spotlight the issue, all of which can be found in our Video section titled How Electronic Gambling Machines Work. The video below is especially noteworthy for spotlighting how predatory gambling interests design the machines to willfully create a “near-miss” experience to intensify the high people get when they use the slots. When the public and our government leaders begin to truly understand how EGMs work, the move to unplug the machines will be swift and decisive. See for yourself.

    These despicable manipulative machines

Please see my comments under the above February 4th entry. Yes these machines are designed to entice slot machine gamblers to keep gambling by so many near misses [i.e. just missing out on getting a feature]. For example on the “Queen of the Nile” slot machine I seen a gambler play for over an hour playing 20 cents then 40 cents and on at least 20 occasions get 2 pyramids before getting 3 pyramids triggering the feature. After putting in about $80 and wasting over 1 hour of his precious time he only wins $20 but overall loses $60.

However this slot machine is not as manipulative as the new ones being put.out.
